A 100% position is available at the University of Agder, Faculty of Humanities and Education, as a PhD Research Fellow in Pedagogy for a period of three years. The position is related to the faculty’s doctoral programme, specialising in pedagogy. The position has its main affiliation to the Department of Education and is also affiliated to the Department of Religion, Philosophy and History.

The position is related to the university's commitment to sustainability. The research project will be linked to the program Democratic Mobilization. It should in particular focus on issues considering one or more of the following aspects related to democracy: Critical thinking, anti-discrimination, diversity, participation, accountable and inclusive institutions. Projects that focus on these topics from an educational perspective are welcome. Projects that are relevant for the Norwegian educational system in an international perspective will be preferred. The applicant must submit a project description accompanying the application. The project description must have a maximum length of five pages (excluding bibliography) and present a draft with theoretical/empirical perspectives, research questions, design/methods, ideas of operationalisation, and a progress plan indicating a framework for completion. Personal qualities and suitability for the position will be emphasised. It is a prerequisite that the appointee has a residence which enables him or her to be present at/available to the academic community during ordinary working hours.
A prerequisite for employment is that the candidate is to be admitted to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.515, code 1017 PhD Research Fellow, NOK 482 200 gross salary per year. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
