We are looking for a person who represents the didactics of computer science in research and teaching at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The prospective holder of the position should be an expert in researching the teaching of important informatics skills, e.g., programming in schools and universities, media competence, and/or IT security and data protection. She/he should continue this research at Martin Luther University.
The applicant should have a scientific qualification in computer science. The person must have a doctorate in computer science didactics and appropriate international publications. Experience in obtaining third-party funding is an advantage.

We also expect cooperation in the Center for Teacher Education (ZLB) and the Center for School and Educational Research (ZSB), both at the Martin Luther University. The holder of the position will also be expected to perform the duties mentioned in Section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.
Applicants must fulfill the requirements of being appointed according to Section 40 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. In particular, the prerequisites for employment are a university degree, pedagogical aptitude and a particular aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. Furthermore, the time between the last examination of the doctoral thesis and the application for the junior professorship should not normally exceed six years.
The post includes the task of educating teachers; normally only candidates with three years of experience in school teaching can be appointed (Article 35 (5) of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities).
Junior Professorships are filled within the framework of a temporary civil service contract, initially for a period of three years. After a positive interim evaluation, the Professorship will be extended for a further three years. In the event of a positive tenure evaluation, a transfer to an unlimited W2 professorship takes place and, provided the general conditions under civil service law are fulfilled, appointment to a civil service position for life, or alternatively, transfer to an unlimited employment contract under private law without a new advertisement.
This Junior Professorship (W1) with tenure track to W2 is funded by the German Federal Government and the Federal States so that, in particular, it is aimed at young scientists in early stages of their careers (up to 4 years after Ph.D).
