The English department offers a wide range of courses at all levels of higher education in the areas of teacher education for all school levels, degree courses in English, and English for specific purposes. Doctoral studies and research are pursued in literature and linguistics, frequently in association with the strong research group Kufo (Culture Studies Research Group) and the Centre for Language and Literature Education, which is part the strong research group ROSE (Research on Subject-specific Education).
The duties include teaching at undergraduate and Master level, especially courses in English linguistics and English-specific teaching methodology in teacher education programmes, including supervision, examination, course convening, course development and research. Active participation in developing courses and teaching in the English section is part of duties as well as external cooperation with the school sector in Sweden.
The position requires active participation in activities on a daily basis, as well as good ability to work in teacher teams and other constellations.
Eligibility for a senior lectureship requires a doctorate, in this case, in English, or equivalent qualifications, and demonstrated teaching skills. Eligibility for a senior lectureship also requires a completed pedagogical course for teaching in higher education, or equivalent. If such a qualification is missing, a candidate can still be appointed on condition that the candidate commits to completing the course within two years of employment.
Equal weight is given to pedagogical and academic skills. Special weight is given to experience of teaching English, especially linguistics and English-specific teaching methodology, in teacher education. Special weight is also given to experience of teaching in Swedish schools.
A degree in teaching is an added qualification as is development projects related to education and teacher training, and to the ability to administer and lead activities.
Considerable weight is given to personal qualities such as ability to cooperate, to establish good relationships with colleagues and students and to take initiatives. Considerable weight is also given to commitment to active participation in departmental activities on a daily basis.

This is a non-fixed term position with starting date 2018-07-01 or by agreement. A probationary period may be required.
