Based in Belgium, AGC Glass Europe is the European branch of the AGC group (Asahi Glass Co., Ltd), the world's largest producer of flat glass.

AGC produces, processes and distributes flat glass for the construction industry (external glazing and indoor decorative glass), the automotive industry, solar applications, and specialized industries (glazing for railway and subway cars and ships, glass for domestic appliances, and various high-tech applications such as smart screens and displays.

AGC Glass Europe currently employs some 14,000 people. Its industrial facilities comprise 18 float glass lines, 10 automotive glass processing centers and more than 100 distribution-processing units in Europe, stretching from Spain to Russia.

AGC ‘s Technovation Center (Gosselies, Belgium) and its Electronics Department
The Technovation Center  located in Gosselies (Belgium) centralises research, engineering and IP activities under one roof.  It  employs 250 people among which 180 researchers (mostly Engineers and PhD’s), all driven by operational excellence and innovation.

Based on its three missions of technological innovation, technical assistance and scientific advice, the R&D Centre is developing the high-tech glass products of tomorrow while taking human wellbeing and protection of the environment into account.

Antibacterial glass, Glassiled Motion for dynamic façades TirExtreme for Multitouch screen are some of the most recent innovations.


As one of the research departments part of the Technovation Center, the Electronics and Antenna Department employs approximately 20 people. The department is in charge of managing projects focusing on how to  integrate, electronics and communication/connectivity elements that will provide an added value for the building and automotive industries in various glass applications.

Antennas Expert in the electronics and antenna department: your mission
AGC Glass Europe is willing to develop a competence in antennas on glass for building. Typical applications are in the field of urban connectivity and communication.

Located at the Company’s European Technovation Center in Gosselies (Belgium), your duties will include the following:

  • exploring various wideband antenna array architectures, proposing the best architecture for specific 5G design in specific bands, designing, prototyping and verifying the proposed architecture, working with product design team to manufacture the verified architecture.
  • identifying the minimum antenna requirements to fulfill the network performance, in close collaboration with network system partners.
  • executing the development from concept to implementation.
  •  working autonomously on antenna research projects
  •  collaborating with other researchers  for the development of the Antenna Design competence in Europe

Required Profile – Must have

  • Master/PhD in Electrical Engineering, or related field (e.g. telecom, antenna, electromagnetics, …)
  • Expert in LTE, (massive) MIMO, beamforming, antenna array, millimeter wave channel model.
  • Understanding of Link Budget, Link Adaptation as well as the Radio Physical Layer.
  • Knowledge of WiFi, 4G and 5G requirements and technologies, e.g. Carrier Aggregation, …
  • Proven track record in antenna and antenna array design with hands on experience up to the prototype
  • Experience in electromagnetic modeling of antenna arrays and other circuits

 

Optional competences

  • Insights in RF, FPGA, and SW development process, especially for wireless communications.
  • Familiar with electromagnetic simulation software, such as CST, Feko, HFSS, …

General skills

  • Analytical mindset, result oriented and ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage many different projects at once.
  • Excellent English skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent communication skills to build  strong relationships both  internally and externally.
  • Solution oriented, perseverant, self-confident, autonomous and pragmatic.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe but also in the USA and in Japan.
